There are many ways to cross a dark forest. In the past, taking actions about my dreams and desires felt like going through a dark, scary forest.
If I even worked up the courage to take action, I’d wait until I had enough in me to muster up a run. I’d get into the project and finish it as quick as possible, to be done with it a.s.a.p.. My fear was driving me. I was crossing that dark forest, running with my eyes closed as fast as I could.
As I’ve practiced awareness and brought more and more consciousness into my daily activities, I examined a shift in the way I approach the same kind of projects. My dreams and desires stem from the same source. But my actions feel different.
I shifted from running down the dark forest path with my eyes closed, hoping to come out the other end as quick as possible, to walking down it slowly and deliberately. I realized that running through it meant I was missing out on so much! I was missing out on experiencing the forest, with it’s gorgeous lights, tiny flowers, earthy smells, the symphony of rustling leaves and chirps in the distance. Even the heart-pumping moments of something wild moving in the bushes.
When I chose acting on my dreams to be a fearful sprint, I was missing out on experiencing life. No wonder it felt heavy and impossible most of the times. No wonder I felt exhausted and thought it was unsustainable to keep acting on my dreams. Because that way, it was impossible and unsustainable.
Now I choose to feel it all, to take it all in from fear to joy. I want to experience the whole journey and it’s bringing me more fulfillment and more joy to be in the midst of it, than ever before. I welcome and move towards the process and learnt to let it unfold in it’s own pace. Even if my fear pops up saying that pace is too slow or too quick.
Allowing it all to run it’s course, while I’m still putting one foot in front of the other, taking it all in at the same time. That’s my conscious productivity center.
