As I’m practicing embodying more and more of the qualities I feel called to embody in this life, I’m noticing a change in the reactions from the world. Glimpses of these qualities show up more and more in my everyday interactions. It’s been going on for quite a while and I’m fascinated by the phenomenon.
When I stand firmly in openness and presence, others tend to drop their masks as well, even if only for a moment. Small interactions, like a short little comment in the supermarket, bring some genuine smiles and an uplifted feeling with themselves. I see people walk away with a spring in their steps. It’s fascinating and so much fun!
On the other hand, when my mind is full of judgement, I’m met with judgement or at the least, I’m causing myself suffering from my own fear of judgement. That’s where I dig in to find what part of me needs my attention.
How I stand in the world, is how the world meets me.
When I’m disconnected from my core and unaware of the energy I’m bringing to a situation, the world helps me to see myself.
My irritation of impatient drivers behind me will hold up a mirror. A kind word from a stranger on the street will do the same. And it’s up to me to choose to take a look.
